Ah yes...the e-poster!!
Well, I suppose that an electronic poster session is somewhat like a guided tour through a website or electronic application of some description. Our first adventure into this mode was last year at PICES X. A PICES poster session begins right after the last oral session in the afternoon. It is typically accompanied by beer/wine/snacks to ensure good participation and interaction. At PICES X, we setup 12 stations, each with a chair or two, 1 high speed network connection, and one backdrop for a suitable sign describing what people could expect to see if they stopped to talk to you. E-poster presenters could either use their own laptops (the organizers supplied a monitor) or the organizers provided a suitable computer for the session. In Victoria, I think we had about 6 people with their own laptops, and 6 needed a computer and monitor provided. They needn't be entirely web-based posters. If you have some material to present on a CD-ROM, that works too. Anyway, the idea is generally to expand the technologies available to poster presenters beyond the typical poster boards, paper, and pins.
