G1. Share workload amongst TCODE members and members of DM communities/ Widen representation of institutes and agencies for all PICES Member Countries /Get more man/brain power involved in the TCODE activities.
AU.1. Organize an international TCODE community (virtual, communicating via e-mail).
AU.2. Get involved young scientists in the TCODE activities.
AU.3. Describe existing national infrastructures for DM for the NP and then update (manually and automatically) these descriptions on permanent basis, including
AU.4. Implement a structure (scheme, pattern) for the annual reports.
AU.5. Communicate to National Delegates this new TCODE annual report structure to ensure the adequate level of membership.
G2. Accomplish fulfilments of DM needs of PICES by adding value.
A2.1. Implement/adopt/describe/publish (common) national/international data and metadata formats and standards (e.g., ICES).
A2.2. Monitor/Coordinate national [PICES?] DM programmes.
A2.3. Implement corresponding ("updatable") inventories for all national resources (according to the new annual report structure).
A2.4. On the TCODE web site, provide the ways for posting "living documents" and news.
G3. Improve interactions with the Science Committees and WG.
A3.1. Inform PICES community about all TCODE activities regularly (e.g., through the updatable TCODE web pages).
A3.2. Work with newly-formed Working Groups and other committees to see if there are data management issues that can be addressed by TCODE or by some ad hoc group as part of the WG workplan in the early stages of the WG. Investigate these suggestions carefully to assess the level of effort required, expertise required in each PICES country and probability of success. This will help to filter out unreasonable requests.
A3.3. Monitor the progress of these activities to determine (clearly) where roadblocks exist.
- Identify the data management needs of PICES
- Develop strategic plans to satisfy the requirements
- Recommend formation of ad hoc task groups to deal with specific functions of TCODE
- Review progress of the task groups
- Monitor/coordinate the data management activities in PICES member countries
